Meet Your Teacher: Chengxi 老师 lǎo shī

Hi, my name is Selene (Chengxi). I was born in China, but I stayed in Manhattan from four to seven, so I have a strong American accent. 

Passion for teaching children: 

I love teaching children. Growing up I loved reading stories and playing games with my nieces. They always have limitless energy. Having tutored a group of kids in one of the rural areas of China, I find children can learn surprisingly quickly and the connection you built with them could be everlasting. In a sense, you are shaping the future.

Hobbies and more:

Apart from my future-shaping career, I love origami, organizing scavenger hunts and going to escape rooms. A bit of travel advice, if you are a history buff I suggest visiting the Forbidden Palace in Beijing. However, if you are secretly a hopeless romantic like me, the West Lake in Hangzhou will be the place you seek.
