Our approach is designed to make language learning an exciting and memorable experience for children, using songs, movement, and imagination. We are looking for passionate, energetic, and reliable Mandarin teachers to join our team and bring the joy of Mandarin to nurseries and primary schools.

Position Overview:

As a Mandarin Chinese Teacher with MANDO SCHOOL, you will teach engaging and playful Mandarin lessons to young children aged 2-12 years. Using our carefully crafted curriculum and story-led methodology, you will inspire curiosity and a love of languages.

This is a freelance/contractor position, providing flexibility to fit around your schedule, with opportunities to grow your hours as demand increases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Mandarin Chinese classes using MANDO SCHOOL’s curriculum and story-led approach.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Implement best teaching practices to enhance children’s learning experiences.
  • Attend mandatory online teacher meetings and participate in ongoing training sessions.
  • Provide timely and detailed reports on class progress and student engagement.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible yet Consistent Scheduling: Choose your availability with a minimum requirement of at least 3 mornings and 3 afternoons per week. Please note that to ensure consistency for the children, once you are assigned a class, you must commit to teaching that specific class for at least one full UK school term. Please refer to the UK school term system (Autumn, Spring, and Summer terms) to better understand these date commitments.
  • Comprehensive Training: We provide full training and ongoing support to ensure consistency and confidence in teaching.
  • Growth Opportunities: Build your schedule and grow your classes as demand increases.
  • Competitive Pay:
    • In-Person Teaching (Nurseries and Schools): ÂŁ25 per hour.
    • Online Classes:
      • 30-minute class: ÂŁ8
      • 45-minute class: ÂŁ10
      • 1-hour class: ÂŁ15

Requirements:

  • Fluent Mandarin Speaker with strong communication skills in English.
  • Experience teaching young children is preferred but not essential - enthusiasm and energy are key!
  • Willingness to purchase and maintain your own teaching equipment, including portable speakers and puppets.
  • Availability to travel to nurseries and schools within your chosen areas (travel expenses are not reimbursed).
  • Enhanced DBS check is required (teacher to cover the cost - roughly ÂŁ70) and annual safeguarding and first aid training.
  • Willingness to create and share one social media content video per month to promote Mandarin learning.

Contract Details:

  • This is a freelance/contractor position, meaning you will be responsible for your own tax liabilities, including income tax and National Insurance contributions.
  • Notice Period: A minimum of three (3) months' written notice is required for contract termination to ensure continuity of classes.
  • Working hours are not guaranteed and are dependent on demand.
  • Term Commitment: Continuity is vital for early years language learning. If you are assigned a class, you are required to teach there for a minimum of one term. The UK school year operates on a three-term system (Autumn term: Sept–Dec; Spring term: Jan–Mar/Apr; Summer term: Apr–Jul). Please consider these term dates when submitting your availability of at least 3 mornings and 3 afternoons per week.
  • Should you break your 12 month contract, you will be required to reimburse a percentage of the training fee (ÂŁ600) depending on when you leave e.g. if you leave within the first 6 months, you will be required to reimburse 100% of any training fees. If you leave between 6-12 months of the contract, you will be required to reimburse 50% of the training costs you have completed with MANDO SCHOOL.
