Meet The Team: Shi Lin 石林
Nov 05, 2021Hi everyone, my name is Shi Lin 石林, and you can just call me Lin. I am from Urumqi, Xinjiang, a multicultural city in China. I am currently a first-year PhD student at the University of Roehampton, and my research focus is audiovisual translation, especially cultural translation in subtitles. Previously, I have studied and lived in various countries, including the USA, Australia and Japan.
As a translator and interpreter, I enjoy speaking with people from different countries and making friends with different cultural backgrounds. As a former part-time English teacher in China, I found it interesting to teach children a new language through various classroom activities. In addition, I also had experience teaching Chinese to undergraduate students in Australia, which gave me a better understanding of pedagogy. During my master's study, I also took several pedagogy courses, which gave me a deep understanding of second language acquisition and teaching.
I hope to use the knowledge and skills I possess to give students the best experience in learning a new language and open up a new world to them.
