We run after school clubs for

KS1 pupils learning Mandarin through games and stories

KS1 (5-7 yrs)

Our KS1 club is all about play. Story-led adventures, action songs and movement games help young children pick up their first Mandarin words, whether that means acting out a tale about a dragon and a pearl or singing a Chinese version of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". Simple colouring and matching worksheets reinforce what they have learned. Each club lasts one hour.

KS2 pupils practising spoken Mandarin in a primary classroom

KS2 (8-12 yrs)

Our KS2 club is a little more structured but just as creative. Children begin to read pinyin and learn their first Chinese characters. Role play, team games and songs keep the language practical, such as acting out a shopping trip, while Chinese festivals and traditions give it context. Each club lasts one hour, and KS1 and KS2 children are always taught in separate groups.

What Nurseries, Schools & Parents Say

I finally discovered Mandarin classes suitable for my boys. As non-native speakers we did not want to enrol our kids on to a Chinese School as I feel this would be too advanced for them. I soon learned my kids School was offering Mandarin Chinese with Mando School as part of the curriculum and I was over the moon! To date the Children have learned the basics including introduction, colours, family, numbers and they are expected to learn animals, shapes, food and drinks this term. I cannot wait and look forward to what they have learned when they come back from School!

Julie Luong

The children really enjoy Mandarin club with MANDO school. The teacher is great with the pupils and ensures they are really engaged. It's great that we have been able to introduce children to learning a third language at the school in addition to French and Spanish. MANDO are also great to deal with and always quick to respond.

Tockington Manor School

Children in my Year 5 class really love their Mandarin classes with MANDO SCHOOL. The programme is well adapted for the age group and the content is next to none. Children learn how to read, write, speak and listen in Mandarin Chinese. I can see why our Headteacher signed up with MANDO SCHOOL as it ticks the national curriculum boxes and delivers more than they promise. I would highly recommend MANDO SCHOOL!

What shapes the price of a club

Every school is different, so we quote each club individually rather than publish a fixed price. These are the things that usually shape a quote:

  • Number of groups: KS1 and KS2 run separately, each with its own programme.
  • Weeks per term: how many weeks the club runs for.
  • Clubs per week: how many sessions you would like us to run.
  • Location: where your school is based. We cover London, Manchester and Oxford.

Tell us what you have in mind and we will put a clear quote together.

Safeguarding

Our teachers are Enhanced DBS checked, safeguarding trained and first aid trained.

A free taste of our KS2 Mandarin scheme of work

Thinking about Mandarin as your school's language, or wondering how it would work in practice? This free sample gives you four complete lessons from our KS2 programme, taken from the same plans our teachers use in schools every week.

What's in the sample

  • Lessons 1 and 2: introducing yourself, with 你好 (nǐ hǎo) and 我叫 (wǒ jiào)
  • Lessons 5 and 6: numbers 1 to 5
  • Lesson plans with suggested timings and teacher notes
  • Matching activity sheets, ready to print
  • A "Did You Know?" culture fact for every lesson
